Meet the team behind McKeague Morgan & Company.

Stephen Morgan

Position: Partner

Stephen graduated from Queens University Belfast with a BSSc degree. He trained with KPMG and was admitted as a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 1982. He subsequently moved to PWC, where he was promoted to Audit manager in 1985. Along with Nicholas McKeague he founded McKeague Morgan & Company in 1987.

Stephen is responsible for a wide variety of accounting and audit assignments including family businesses, community and charitable organisations and professional practices.

In the Corporate finance field, Stephen has vast experience in applying for and negotiating EU grants, preparing business plans and arranging finance.

He is also responsible for forensic accounting in the firm and in this capacity he prepares compensation claims, negotiates with the compensation agency, liaises with solicitors and barristers and attends court where necessary.

Tony Magill

Tony graduated from Queens University Belfast with a BSc honours degree and post graduate diploma in accountancy. He subsequently trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with Touche Ross (now Deliotte).

In 1991 Tony joined S B Mullan & Co and became a partner four years later. He became the sole partner in S B Mullan & Co in September 2000 and practiced accountancy as a sole trader for seven years before merging with McKeague Morgan & Company in November 2007.

He has a wide range of general practice experience servicing a diverse client base.

Darren McMath

Position: Partner

Darren qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2010 and became a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 2017. Darren joined the firm in April 2023 and is responsible for both personal and corporate insolvency work. He regularly acts as liquidator for solvent and insolvent companies, trustee in bankruptcy, and supervisor of both Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) and Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs).

Darren McKeown

Darren graduated from Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics. He joined McKeague Morgan in 2009 and was admitted to membership as an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 2013.

Brian Gorman

Brian obtained a Degree in Accountancy and Finance from Sir John Moores University Liverpool and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from QUB.

He trained with M J O’Kane & Co from 1993 – 1996. He joined McKeague Morgan in 1996 and became an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 1997.

Brian’s roles include the management of all major audit clients, offering business consultancy for small and emerging business clients, tax planning and advice and cross border issues.

Nicky McKeague

Position: Consultant

Nicky holds a BA(Hons) in Accountancy. He trained with Deloitte & Co and was admitted as a Member of the Institute in 1983. After working abroad in Abu Dhabi for two years he set up practice on his own account and then co-founded the partnership of McKeague Morgan in 1987.

Nicky is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and a fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals. He has been involved in insolvency assignments for over 25 years and has experience of both individual and business rescues. He also takes formal insolvency assignments including liquidations and bankruptcies.

Other specialist areas include corporate finance and in particular the negotiation of grant assistance for small and medium sized businesses.
